*Major spoilers ahead*

I typically try to avoid any huge spoilers when writing reviews but in this instance, I just can't. There were too many huge moments and big reveals in this episode to not specifically discuss them. If you have not watched episode one of the second season of The Mandalorian yet, please do not read on! I don't want to ruin anyone's viewing experience especially because The Mandalorian has a lot to offer in that aspect.

I want to start out by saying this might be my new favorite episode of the entire series. Granted, it is a pretty close call between this episode and Chapter 8 for me! The first episode of the first season felt a little slow for me at first because I had not gotten the feel of the show by that point. I, of course, finished the show and came to love it in its entirety, rewatched the entire season, and appreciated it even more the second time through. However, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect with the start of this new season so I was glad to find that I was immediately intrigued from the very start of this first episode. First of all, I was really happy to see The Child again because come on, who wasn't? I usually want to see as much of The Child as possible in each episode and I really like when he's able to save the day with the force. With that being said, I was actually pretty happy with the focus on Din Djarin's sheer ability to develop a clever plan and successfully execute it without the assistance of the force. As much as I love seeing The Child use the force to protect Din, I also like to see the hard-earned skills that Din possesses as well. All this talk about the strengths of the characters leads me into a discussion of one of my newest favorite characters in this show, Cobb Vanth.

When I first saw the rumors that Timothy Olyphant was going to be in this season of The Mandalorian I was instantly excited. I really like him as an actor so I had high hopes and his character did not disappoint. I thought that his storyline was so interesting and it was really cool to see him reintroduce Boba Fett's armor! I felt that his story perfectly paved the way for a Boba storyline by introducing the thought that if the armor survived... maybe Boba did as well. Although Olyphant is currently only credited for one episode, I am going to pretend like I don't know that for the moment and say that I hope we see more of Cobb Vanth in future episodes! Maybe I'm a little biased because I already really liked Timothy Olyphant and was eagerly awaiting his appearance in this show, but I have to say that Cobb Vanth was well written and provided a fun storyline that could potentially indicate that bigger reveals are to come.

Speaking of big reveals, is that really Boba Fett at the end of this episode?! We at least know that it's Temerua Morrison, so everyone is assuming it is either Boba or a random clone. I am leaning towards the idea that it is actually Boba especially because they put so much emphasis on his armor throughout the entire episode. There have been so many rumors that Boba is not actually dead and he will be making his reappearance this season but I definitely didn't expect them to drop such a big reveal in the first episode. That just makes me even more excited for this season though since they really went big right from the beginning. I'd love to see more of Boba because he's such a classic character whose story has always been pretty surface level. It would be interesting to see a little more about him and what kind of motivations he's developed during the time he was thought to be dead. Even if it isn't Boba and it is just a random clone, I think that could be cool as well. I love the prequel/Clone Wars era so the inclusion of any aspects from that time into new Star Wars content is thoroughly welcomed by me. I look forward to seeing what else this season of The Mandalorian has to offer and I will be writing these for each episode so if you enjoyed reading please check back in each week to hear my thoughts!

But that's enough from me, I want to hear your thoughts! Where will Din Djarin and The Child go next? Did you like Cobb Vanth or would you prefer him to remain a one-time character? Is that actually Boba Fett in the end or is it just a random clone? Which character from the first season do you hope returns in the next episode? I'd love to talk about this episode and all of the upcoming episodes so please let me know at:
