*Potential spoilers ahead!*

I know I’m a little behind on this one, but I decided to pick this comic up when I went to my local comic book store for the new Darth Vader comic. I have never read any of the Aphra specific content but I have read other stories that she has played a role in and I’ve been intrigued by her character. Therefore, I had high hopes for this first issue of the new Doctor Aphra comic and I was not disappointed. This first issue is a great start to a comic run as it introduces some interesting characters, a confusing mission, and some solid conflict. I think the concept of the Rings of Vaale is going to bring some exciting and puzzling aspects to this story. It is unclear to everyone whether these powerful rings even exist and I think there is a lot of potential for such an elusive topic. Aphra’s story is a little different from the other Star Wars stories I’ve read because I tend to read stories about Jedi and Sith, so the perspective of an archeologist in this massive universe is new and exciting for me. Plus, Aphra herself is just a well written character with attributes that really help build any story that she’s in. Her quick wit paired with her criminal desire for money makes her morals questionable at times, yet you can’t help but like her. Overall, this first issue of the comic makes me excited for the rest of this Doctor Aphra run and I may just have to go back and read the first Aphra centered comic before going any further in the Star Wars universe. I’d recommend this to any fan of Doctor Aphra as well as anyone that just likes reading about some of the crazy missions and mythical lore in Star Wars!

What do you think? Are the Rings of Vaale real? Are you a fan of Doctor Aphra and the different perspective her character brings to Star Wars?
